Dry Eye Drops/Artificial Tears

For mild cases of Dry Eye Syndrome, treatment may be as simple as using artificial tears or topical dry eye drops a few times a day.

Punctal Occlusion

In more persistent dry eye cases, a simple non-surgical procedure may provide long-term relief of Dry Eye Syndrome. This common procedure is safe, quick, painless and totally reversible. It uses tiny plugs called "punctal occluders." Find out more about punctal occluders »

Combination Therapy

Your doctor may also recommend combination therapy, which combines punctal plugs plus a topical agent to maximize dry eye relief. Learn more »

Considerations for evaluating the use of punctal plugs versus dry eye drops

  • Cost: Plugs are a one-time cost to you, while drops are a continual cost.
  • Maintenance: After insertion, plugs do not require additional attention. Drops require your continual attention, often needing to be applied 4–6 times a day.
  • Comfort: Plugs offer continuous comfort. Drops wear off until the next time you need to apply.
